About
Spirit always stands still long enough for the photographer it has chosen.
~ Minor White
Margot Geist has been making photographs since she was a teenager, when her father took up large-format photography and built a darkroom in their basement. Owner of Geistlight Photography--Albuquerque’s award-winning commercial and fine art studio since 1990--she earned an MFA from the University of New Mexico and holds a BFA from Ohio University. She also received a Karuna Graduate Training Certificate in Contemplative Psychology and is currently studying Ikebana with Master Teacher Mary Burnett de Gomez of the Ichiyo School. Weyrich Gallery carries a selection of her prints and cards. Work featured in many publications, as well as private and public collections, has been shown in exhibitions in the States and abroad. Alchemist images rendered in her art are designed to convey the luminous stillness of the present moment, revealing depths of meaning.
